Rare winter visitor. Few records from Kerala. Adult male has rufous head and yellow mantle. Females looks very similar to Black headed bunting. but slightly smaller with short, conical beak, pale throat and darker breast, buffish breast band, juveniles are almost indistinguishable. Habitat : cereal cultivation.
