Looks: Large heron with long legs and neck. Ashy grey above, whitish head, neck and underparts. Black streaks on neck, black patch on belly and a black crest is present. Yellowish bill. Immature birds are duller with grayish neck and less developed crest. Lives: Marshes, fresh water bodies, tidal creeks.
പൊതുവെ ചാരനിറമുള്ള ഈ വലിയ കൊക്കിന് നീണ്ടവരയുള്ള കഴുത്തും കറുത്ത ശിഖയും മഞ്ഞച്ചുണ്ടുമുണ്ട്. ചുമലിലും അടിവയറ്റിലും ഇരുണ്ട നിറമാണ്. ചതുപ്പുകളിലും വയൽപ്രദേശങ്ങളിലും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു.
