Looks: Long slender necked heron with bluish grey above. Rufous head and neck, black crown with a black crest. A black stripe along its length through the neck. Chestnut under parts and underwing coverts. Immature birds are uniform cinnamon brown. Lives: Inland waters, paddyfields, marshes, river banks.
